Cadillac Escalade IQ: A Steeper Bill Than the Gasoline Version

In what seems to be a growing trend for electric vehicles lately, Cadillac has just announced the price of its fully electric Escalade IQ, and it’s more expensive than its counterpart powered by a traditional combustion engine.

The American automaker’s large electric SUV has a starting price of $159,899, excluding destination and preparation fees, bringing the total to $163,225. In comparison, the gasoline-powered Escalade starts at $115,639 (2024). What do you think—does this price difference seem justified?

Four Trim Levels

Cadillac offers four different versions of the 2025 Escalade IQ. First, there are the Luxury 1 and Sport 1 models, both starting at $163,225. The main differences between the two lie in their finishes: the Luxury version features a more vibrant design with chrome accents, while the Sport version opts for a darker, edgier style.

Next, you can choose the Luxury 2 or Sport 2 models, which come with higher equipment levels. These versions have a starting price of $183,325 before options. The additional $20,000 is justified by features such as the 36-speaker AKG audio system, memory seats for the driver and front passenger, and integrated night vision technology.

The price can climb significantly with costly options, such as the Midnight Steel Frost paint, which alone costs $7,295. For fun, I added a few options and ended up with a total of $208,535 before taxes and the new luxury tax. That said, I believe the Cadillac Escalade IQ offers excellent value for money and a unique overall experience that simply cannot be matched elsewhere.

Impressive Performance

Cadillac didn’t hold back when designing its large electric SUV. The 2025 Escalade IQ boasts performance as impressive as its dimensions. With over 750 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds. Additionally, its range exceeds 700 kilometers on a full charge, far surpassing most other electric vehicles currently available on the market.
